EUROPEAN PROJECT COMMUNICATION FOR INTEGRATION (C4I)

logo c4iSabadell, together with other 10 partner cities, participated in this European project, C4i Communication for Integration. The goal of C4i was to fight negative rumours, myths and stereotypes on foreign population by creating an Anti-rumour Agent network. This project aims to have social entities, public and non-profit service providers, as well as civil society commitment, in order to fight against rumours dissemination. Solid and objective counter arguments are important to provide stakeholders with statistical data, facts and responses to false rumours.

By using the slogan “Sabadell, no t’enganxis als rumors” (Sabadell, do not stick to rumours), Sabadell seeks to put a stop to spreading false conceptions which are not being challenged and could break the threads that have been weaving coexistence in our city.

In 2014, the Council of Europe, with the financial support of the European Commission, launched the project “Communication for Integration” (C4i) in the framework of the European Fund for the Integration of third-country nationals.

Sabadell celebrated its accession to the European project network on May 27, 2014, in Casal Pere Quart (Sabadell). We counted on the presence of Daniel de Torres, expert in the European Council and director of the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI), and Miquel Àngel Essomba, general coordinator of the SIRIUS European Policy Network on immigration and education. Essomba held the conference “Does diversity affect school performance?.” During the event we could watch a presentation on rumours in learning environments carried out in the school Joan Sallarès i Pla (Sabadell).
